Anthony Joshua could remain in boxing for much longer than previously expected. As Matchroom founder Barry Hearn revealed, the former world heavyweight champion is now considering another three years in the ring. Just a few months ago, Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn had hinted that 2026 could be the final year of Joshua’s career. But following his victory over Jake Paul and the tragic car accident in which two close friends lost their lives, the British boxer’s outlook has changed.
“I’ve rarely seen him so motivated,” Barry Hearn told Sky Sports. Joshua is now fully focused on boxing again and has put other business activities on hold for the time being. First up for the 36-year-old is a fight against Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on Saturday. Next up is the long-awaited British mega-bout against Tyson Fury in November. Despite his newfound motivation, Hearn urges caution: “Boxing is a crazy sport. One good punch from a heavyweight can change everything.”
