Anthony Joshua was involved in a fatal traffic accident in Nigeria – two close friends were killed, but the former world champion himself was lucky.
Former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua has been involved in a serious traffic accident in Nigeria in which two people were killed. According to local media, the 36-year-old was a passenger in an SUV that collided with a stationary vehicle on a highway in Ogun State.
According to initial reports, Joshua only suffered minor injuries and was able to leave the vehicle with assistance. Pictures and videos show the boxer visibly marked but conscious. The police confirmed that Joshua was out of danger. The fatalities are long-time companions of the boxing star. The accident occurred just a few hours after Joshua had shared private impressions of his stay in Nigeria on social media. His promoter Eddie Hearn reacted with dismay: “We are in contact with Anthony. As far as we know, he is doing well under the circumstances. Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased.”
