In boxing, you have to earn your nicknames—through tenacity and punching power. Osleys Iglesias has more than one. The Cuban super middleweight from Berlin is the “Boogeyman,” the bogeyman of his weight class. He’s the one the top stars avoid; the one considered a nightmare opponent. He sweeps through the ring like a whirlwind—just like “El Tornado.”
Shunned by Canelo & Co.
The 28-year-old southpaw has long since made a significant mark: 15 fights, all wins, 14 of them by stoppage. He claimed the IBO title in December 2022 in Gliwice, Poland, when he stopped Ukrainian Andrii Velikovskyi by TKO. He secured the IBF belt in April 2026 in Montreal with a stoppage victory over Russian Pavel Silyagin. In short: the track record of an ambitious puncher.
Sure, Iglesias’s record lacks the big fights—at least so far. No wonder, when boxing greats like Canelo Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs), Hamzah Sheeraz (23-0-1, 19 KOs) or Jaime Munguia (42-2, 35 KOs) have politely declined offers from Markus Rese and Benedikt Poelchau, Iglesias’s management duo—too high a risk, too little return.
