Carlos Adames successfully defended his WBC middleweight world title last night, securing a unanimous points victory over Austin Williams at the Caribe Royale Orlando in Florida. Adames (25-1-1, 18 knockouts) had to cancel the originally scheduled date due to an illness at the official weigh-in when both boxers were supposed to be part of the Shakur Stevenson-Teofimo Lopez undercard in New York.

Williams (20-2, 13 knockouts) had a difficult evening that began with a knockdown in the second round. After this moment on the boards, Williams never really found his way into the fight and was unable to establish a rhythm. In a frustrating fight, he was also deducted a point in the twelfth and final round. On the undercard, Corey Marksman defeated Jaycob Gomez by unanimous decision on points in the lightweight division. Marksman (13-0-1, 9 knockouts) kept his clean slate, while Gomez (14-1-1, 8 knockouts) suffered his first loss as a pro.

Further down the fight card, half-middleweight Omari Jones (6-0, 4 knockouts) continued his successful start to his career, defeating Christian GAomes (23-7-1, 21 knockouts) over eight rounds on points. There was also a first-round knockout victory for Australian heavyweight Teremoana Teremoana (10-0, 10 knockouts), who made short work of Curtis Harper (19-13, 13 knockouts).
