After more than a year out of the ring, former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua made his return. The Brit celebrated a victory against social media star Jake Paul in Miami, sending a clear signal to the elite of the premier class.

Joshua left no doubt in his duel with the unequal challenger. Paul (12-2, 7 knockouts) even had to leave with a broken jaw after the defeat, while Joshua (29-4, 26 knockouts) impressively demonstrated his punching power and physical superiority. As soon as the dust had settled, Joshua and his team turned their attention to the next big target: an all-British blockbuster against Tyson Fury.

At the official press conference after the fight, Joshua was asked directly about a possible duel with Fury (34-2-1, 24 knockouts). His answer was short and unequivocal: “Yes, I would.” Joshua’s corner team, which is largely identical to the staff of undisputed world champion Oleksandr Usyk, was also striking. The crew is led by head coach Igor Golub, while Sergey Lapin is responsible for overall coordination.

Joshua openly explained why he had taken time out: “I had to rethink my life and make necessary changes to find my love for boxing again. This sport is merciless. If you don’t give it one hundred percent, the belts are taken away from you and strapped on someone else.”

Lapin revealed to the Ukrainian portal LuckyPunch that he expects Joshua to fight Tyson Fury next – possibly in September. Should this come to pass, nothing would stand in the way of the biggest British heavyweight duel in recent boxing history.
