BC Traktor Schwerin beat BC Chemnitz 12:9 on the 6th day of fights in the German Boxing League. And will face BC Marburg in the finals.

With a clear 12:9 home victory against the Chemnitz “Wolves”, Traktor Schwerin has secured first place in the German Boxing League. Schwerin already had the upper hand in the first round in Chemnitz with 11:9 points. As a result, the defending champions will have the right to play at home in the decisive second final against BC Marburg after the points round in the upcoming finals.
This brings the sixth team championship title in a row – the Traktor team’s declared goal for the season – within reach. Schwerin also benefited from a retrospective ban imposed on a Marburg athlete for a violation of the anti-doping guidelines (see corrected table).
A tailor-made start
In front of around 1,000 spectators in Schwerin’s Palmberg Arena, the “light boys” got off to a perfect start. Razmik Sargsyan (lightweight/against Aymar Tounsi), David Gkevorgkian (semi-welterweight/against Moaed Azizieh) and Simon Rieth (welterweight/against Evan Escher) each secured clear 3:0 victories before the break to give them a reassuring lead.
Moussa Kassab was then visibly out of his depth against Dennis Rohner at middleweight. The Berlin “loaner” had to accept a clear 0:3 defeat. Light heavyweight Oliver Ginkel secured a points win in the match between the two 27-year-old veterans and Silvio Schierle. It was a very close 2:1, but not undeserved, and ensured Schwerin’s overall victory on the evening.
Super heavyweight ring battle
In the heavyweight division, Traktor boxer Tyron Amo lost 3-0 to Laurens Hagen from Chemnitz. In contrast, super heavyweight Merveille Binda prevailed 3:0 against Christoph Richter after a real battle in the ring and rounded off the victory for Schwerin.

The finals between Schwerin and Marburg are scheduled for April 26 in Marburg (Georg-Gaßmann-Stadion) and May 3 and 10 in Schwerin. The date of the rematch also depends on the “Schwerin volleyball players”, explained Traktor CEO Frank Kleinsorg. Should they reach the final series for the German championship, they would have a home match on the weekend of May 3. Kleinsorg: “If we have to postpone to May 10, the squad boxers will already be on the road for the national team. That would affect Marburg in particular, and of course we don’t want that.”
