Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford have signed a contract for a mega-fight in Las Vegas in September.

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 knockouts) and Terence “Bud” Crawford (41-0, 31 knockouts) have signed a contract for a mega-fight. As the boxing magazine “The Ring” reports, the Mexican will defend his world titles (WBA-Super, WBC and WBO) in the super middleweight division against the US superstar in September. The mega-fight is to be the headliner of a “Ryadh Season” fight card. However, the clash of the pound-for-pound giants will not take place in the Saudi capital Riyadh, but in the boxing mecca of Las Vegas. A date and the exact venue have not yet been set.
Terence Crawford was initially crowned Undisputed Welterweight Champion in 2023 with a victory over compatriot Errol Spence Jr. “Bud” then moved up to half-middleweight, where he won the WBA world championship belt with a unanimous points victory over Israil Madrimov on August 3, 2024. Canelo Alvarez most recently held his own against Edgar Berlanga in the super middle. It is rather unlikely that the Mexican will step into the ring with William Scull before the duel against Crawford. The speculation surrounding a title unification with the AGON boxer, who holds the IBF world championship belt at the limit, on “Cinco de Mayo” (Mexican holiday on May 5) could therefore quickly come to an end.
