Brutal ending in the Wandsbek sports hall: Albon Pervizaj suffers the first knockout of his career – tumult and ring brawl shock fans and spectators.

Hamburg heavyweight Albon Pervizaj experienced a bitter end on Saturday evening in the Wandsbek sports hall – in the truest sense of the word. The 28-year-old suffered a brutal knockout defeat in the tenth and final round of his match against Venezuelan Luis Jose Marin Garcia and subsequently required medical treatment.
Pervizaj (19-2, 14 knockouts) was knocked down for the first time in his professional career. His opponent Garcia (17-11-1, 12 knockouts), an old acquaintance on German boxing stages, had already fought eight fights in Germany – but only this time was he able to leave the ring as the winner.
In the tenth round, Garcia hit Pervizaj with a left hook to the chin that sent him down heavily. Although the Hamburg native managed the count, he was visibly wobbling. Garcia smelled blood and immediately followed up with a left hook to the body that ended the fight for good. The referee stopped the fight immediately when Pervizaj went down again.
While the German was being treated on the floor, chaotic scenes broke out: Garcia’s team initially celebrated exuberantly, but suddenly violence broke out in the ring. One of the cornermen was even dragged out of the roped area by the neck before the situation escalated completely. The DAZN live broadcast was abruptly interrupted when several men hit each other. One of those involved had to protect himself in the corner with his arms, while it remained unclear which camp he belonged to.
For Albon Pervizaj, this evening represents a serious setback – both athletically and emotionally. After his second career setback, the Hamburg native will now have to regroup and return to the drawing board at the gym.
