The countdown is on: Boxing idol Regina Halmich (47) and TV entertainer Stefan Raab (57) are about to meet in the ring for the third time. The big TV event(live on RTL and RTL+) on September 14, sponsored by digital insurance manager CLARK and therefore officially entitled “The CLARK Final Fight”, is eagerly awaited. In the interview Halmich gives us an insight into her training preparation – and explains why she is convinced that she will win the fight against Stefan Raab.

Regina, this is your third time in the ring with Stefan Raab after a long break and “The CLARK Final Fight” is just around the corner – how do you feel?
Regina Halmich: “I have been training intensively for the last four months and I have to say that I feel fit and ready for the fight.

How do you prepare – and what do you do to be in the best possible mental and physical shape on the day?
As I haven’t boxed for many years, I’ve had to do a lot. The coordination, the sense of distance, the speed and the timing. That doesn’t come naturally. But I’ve always been diligent about training, which is to my advantage. I’m also very mentally stable. I believe in myself. That’s hugely important.

After the last rematch, did you ever think there would be another fight? And what was your main motivation for getting back into the ring with Stefan?
I would never have thought that Stefan would challenge me to a third duel. But my acceptance shows: We’re both a bit crazy. And somehow I’m up for it too. I wouldn’t do any more real professional fights, I’ve achieved everything there is to achieve. But a show fight like this still appealed to me.

Let’s make a prediction for the “CLARK Final Fight” on Saturday: Why will you win the fight for the third time?
I will win the fight because I am the better boxer. Still am, even after my active time. That’s exactly what I want to prove. So let’s fight!
