AGON super featherweight Hamsat Shadalov fights for an international title in Buenos Aires on Friday.

The next big moment in Hamsat Shadalov’s career is coming up next Friday (June 13). The 26-year-old super featherweight from Berlin will fight for his first international title as part of the WBA event series “KO Drugs” at the “Casino Buenos Aires”. The AGON boxer’s opponent will be the experienced local hero Lazaro Ramiro Escobar. The former Olympian will fight him for the WBA Fedelatin super featherweight title.
“He’ll feel my blows!”
“I’m ready, I’m focused – I’m here to win the title,” says Shadalov. The Berlin native has already been in Argentina for several days and has adapted to the climate, time difference and local conditions early on. According to Shadalov, the last sparring sessions in Berlin were at “top level”. “I have improved in every round and am in absolute competition form.”
His opponent Escobar will enter the ring with the home advantage, but Shadalov believes he is well prepared: “I respect him, but I know that I am better. If I reach my full potential, he will feel my punches at home too.”
Final touches in Buenos Aires
The fight was arranged by AGON matchmaker Flavio Oleaga Mirabal, who used his international contacts to get the strong line-up in Buenos Aires off the ground: “The atmosphere on site is good, Hamsat is super prepared and is still getting the finishing touches. He has an absolutely professional team around him. Our Cuban hopefuls Erislandy and Lazaro Alvarez will arrive here on Wednesday. Their arrival and the changeover time is much more relaxed than for Hamsat, who has already been here for several days.”
For Shadalov, the title fight is a decisive milestone: “It’s more than just a fight. It’s the next big step on my path. I don’t want to take any more small steps, I want to beat big names and establish myself internationally.”
“Feel the support of my fans”
With his appearances as a professional, the Berlin native has continued to develop at AGON Sports under promoter Ingo Volckmann. “The constant work with my team, every detail – that has helped me enormously in terms of sport,” emphasizes Shadalov.
The fight is also very important to him emotionally: “Berlin is my home, my foundation. It fills me with pride to represent the city internationally. I can feel the support of my fans – whether via Instagram, WhatsApp or anywhere else. I’ll take this energy with me into the ring.”
The event in Buenos Aires will be jointly promoted by Sampson Boxing, Tello Box and AGON Sports and broadcast live on TyC Sports.
