The World Boxing Association has expanded its membership to 84 countries with the addition of China and five other national federations.

The Board of World Boxing (WB) has approved six further applications from national boxing federations. This brings the number of WB members to 84 nations. The six new members are China, Turkey, Sudan, Montenegro, Slovakia and Greece.
The approval of the applications follows the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) announcement on February 25 that World Boxing would be granted provisional Olympic recognition . All new national federations have undergone a rigorous application process for membership of World Boxing.
Turkey also joins
The inclusion of China and Turkey increases the number of WB members whose athletes won medals at the 2024 Olympic Games. China took second place in the boxing medal table with three gold and two silver medals. Turkey came eighth with three medals.
World Boxing President Boris van der Vorst said: “It is a pleasure to welcome our newest members. They further increase World Boxing’s global reach across all five continents as we continue to grow and go from strength to strength. The addition of six more members to our ever-growing membership is further evidence of the broad support that exists in our sport for the work of World Boxing.” The World Boxing Federation wants to ensure that boxing remains at the heart of the Olympic Movement.
