The Augsburg boxer Tina Rupprecht made history with her victory against Eri Matsuda: She unified the WBC, WBO and WBA world titles in the atomweight division.

Tina Rupprecht (14-1-1, 3 knockouts) has reached a milestone in German boxing with an impressive success. In Heidelberg on Saturday, “Tiny Tina” defeated Japan’s Eri Matsuda (7-2-1, 1 knockout) to unify three major world championship belts in the atomweight division. This victory makes her the first German boxer to hold the WBC, WBO and WBA world titles simultaneously. “This is my lifelong dream. I’ve made history,” said the Augsburg native, celebrating her triumph.
Dominant performance from Rupprecht
Rupprecht got off to a perfect start: After just 20 seconds, she landed a right punch that sent Matsuda to the floor. Cheered on by around 100 fans, the 1.53 meter tall and 45 kilogram sports teacher dominated the fight with her active and precise strikes. Although Matsuda tried to turn the tide in the later rounds, she was unable to counter the German’s aggression. After ten tough rounds, the judges scored unanimously in favor of Rupprecht. It was the Augsburg fighter’s 14th victory in her 16th professional fight.
In addition to the three world championship belts, Rupprecht also secured the coveted “The Ring” title. This special belt is only awarded in fights between the best female or male boxers in the world. She is the first German fighter to receive this award since Max Schmeling in 1930.
Undisputed fight in 2025?
Next year, Rupprecht could crown her historic triumph: A duel against IBF world champion Sumire Yamanaka (8-0, 3 knockouts) is imminent. Should she win, she would be the undisputed world champion of all four major federations in the atomweight division. The fight for the Undisputed title promises to be another highlight in Tina Rupprecht’s boxing career.
