Historic sensation: Rupprecht fights for Undisputed title

Germany is on the verge of a historic boxing event: Tina Rupprecht can unify all four major world titles in the atomweight division against Sumire Yamanaka on April 5 in Potsdam.

German boxing history could be written in the MBS Arena in Potsdam on April 5, 2025. Tina Rupprecht, reigning three-time world champion (WBC, WBA and WBO) in the atomweight division, will take on Japanese IBF champion Sumire Yamanaka. The aim: to unify all four major world titles – a historic moment for German boxing.

A victory would make “Tiny” Tina Rupprecht the first German female (or male) boxer ever to win the Undisputed title. So far, only a few athletes worldwide have celebrated this extraordinary success, almost all of them from the boxing strongholds of the USA and England. But that’s not all: the prestigious RING Magazine belt is also at stake once again. Rupprecht already secured it in her fight against Eri Matsuda, becoming the first German since Max Schmeling in 1930. Now she could finally be crowned the undisputed queen of her weight class.

“I’m fighting for German boxing!”

Tina Rupprecht is a fighter: “I’m not just fighting for myself, but for German boxing and its recognition. It’s the biggest challenge of my career – and my biggest opportunity!” This fight is also a milestone for German boxing promoters. Benedikt Poelchau (Blanko Sports) and Ulf Steinforth (SES Boxing) have managed to bring this fight to Germany – a rarity for fights of this magnitude. “Germany has never been this close to an undisputed world title. I’m expecting record ratings on MDR,” said Poelchea aka Benny Blanko. SES boss Ulf Steinforth said: “Tina is not just fighting for titles – she is fighting for the crowning glory of an outstanding career. This evening will remain unforgotten forever.”
