Vasiliy Lomachenko is apparently working on his return. According to information from The Ring, the 38-year-old Ukrainian is planning his comeback for the fall. Following his announced retirement last year, it would be the return of one of the most technically brilliant boxers of his generation.

Lomachenko last stood in the ring in May 2024, when he stopped George Kambosos in round eleven and secured the IBF lightweight title. After that, back problems prevented further plans. Among other things, a fight against Gervonta “Tank” Davis was discussed, but did not materialize.

Lomachenko’s physical condition is now said to have improved significantly. His contract with Top Rank is coming to an end, which means he can act as a free agent for the time being. Decisive: Lomachenko does not want any build-up fights. He is said to be exclusively interested in big duels.

A new attempt in the direction of Davis would therefore be obvious. Another collaboration with Top Rank also remains a possibility. Lomachenko won Olympic gold twice as an amateur and became world champion in three weight classes as a professional. If he does return, it will probably not be for a quiet farewell – but for one last big run.
