Protest instead of title dreams: Noel Mikaelian feels cheated out of the WBC title and wants a second chance against Badou Jack with all his might.

Following his controversial points defeat to Badou Jack, Noel Mikaelian has made serious accusations against the judges. The former WBC cruiserweight world champion has officially lodged an appeal with the association – with the aim of a rematch and justice. According to official statistics, Mikaelian landed more punches (153 to 122) and was the more active boxer (301 more fists thrown) in the WBC title duel in Riyadh at the beginning of May. Nevertheless, two judges scored the fight 115:113 for Jack, one saw a 114:114 draw. DAZN expert Chris Mannix had scored the duel 115:113 in favor of Mikaelian.
“I was robbed – and everyone knows that,” Mikaelian told The Ring. “I gave it my all, but I have no power against the judges. Frank Warren, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. and many others told me after the fight that I won.” The 34-year-old “Dark Horse” from Florida had stepped in as a replacement for the injured Ryan Rozicki – and, according to his own statement, put in a strong performance despite only three weeks of preparation time. Mikaelian came into the ring as WBC champion in Recess, so never lost the title in sporting terms. “Maybe I’m cursed,” Mikaelian continued. “But I want the rematch – I want to show that I’m the real champion.”
Promoter Don King and advisor Anthony Girges have already filed an appeal with the WBC and are demanding a rescheduling. If this is successful, Mikaelian could resume his pursuit of unification fights against Jai Opetaia or Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez.
