Amanda Serrano is set to have another historic night in her extraordinary career. The unified WBA and WBO featherweight world champion will defend her titles on August 21 at the Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California, against Argentina’s Lucrecia Manzur.

For Serrano, this isn’t just about her world championship belts. The 37-year-old currently has 32 knockout victories, tying her with Christy Martin for the record for the most early-round wins in women’s boxing. With one more knockout, Serrano would take sole possession of the record. Most recently, the Puerto Rican stopped Cheyenne Hanson in the second round, tying Martin’s record. Against Manzur, who is ranked No. 2 by the WBO, she now has the chance to make history once and for all.

The format of the fight is also unusual. Serrano and Manzur will box over twelve rounds of two minutes each. According to the organizers, this makes it the first unified women’s world title fight over this distance. Serrano had already made history in 2023 with her victory over Danila Ramos, when the first unified women’s title fight was held over twelve three-minute rounds.

In addition, the fight card is set to be broadcast live on TikTok LIVE for the first time. The event is organized by Most Valuable Promotions. Serrano already holds numerous records. She has won world titles in seven weight classes, became the first female boxer from Puerto Rico to be an undisputed world champion in the four-belt era, and, in 2022, headlined the first-ever women’s fight as the main event at Madison Square Garden alongside Katie Taylor.
