Nina “The Brave” Meinke came out on top against strong competition in the “Boxer of the Year” vote – and secured the coveted title for the fifth time.

Nina Meinke has already claimed four victories in the BOXSPORT poll in 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023. And the featherweight from the Hamburg-based P2M Boxing promotion also seemed to be the clear favorite in 2024. In September, “The Brave” was crowned IBF champion and achieved something historic when she boxed the full men’s distance of twelve three-minute rounds for the first time in this title fight.
But in December, Tina Rupprecht (WBC, WBO and WBA in the atom) and Sarah Bormann (WBO in the minimum) triumphed alongside Meinke as world champions in the major federations. “Tiny Tina” even made German sporting history by unifying three world championship belts. The race for the coveted BOXSPORT title “Boxer of the Year” was therefore completely open. Nina “The Brave” Meinke and “Tiny” Tina Rupprecht fought a duel at eye level right to the end. Both received the same number of points from the jury, so that the vote of the Boxsport readers decided. In the end, Meinke came out on top. Even though Sarah Bormann had nothing to do with the outcome in the end, third place is her greatest success in the BOXSPORT vote.
The result:
- Nina Meinke
309 points - Tina Rupprecht
237 points - Sarah Bormann
54 points
