Nina Meinke: World Championship rematch in Rostock

In September last year, Nina Meinke became IBF featherweight world champion. The rematch against Daniela Bermudez will now take place on May 10.

Nina Meinke is the current IBF featherweight world champion and Germany’s “Boxer of the Year 2024”. The Berlin native also wants to take on big sporting challenges in 2025. The next one: a rematch against Daniela Bermudez.

“The Brave” wrote on social media that it was a well-deserved rematch opportunity for the Argentinian. Meinke had won the vacant IBF belt against Bermudez on September 21, 2024. This was a tough piece of work for the champion from the P2M Box-Promotion stable, especially as she suffered an early cut in this world championship duel.

“Really looking forward to defending the title”

The special thing about Meinke’s world championship triumph: it was a historic fight between two female boxers over the “male distance” of twelve times three rounds – a first in Europe to date. The 32-year-old ultimately defeated Bermudez by Majority Decision.

“I’m really looking forward to defending my World Championship title in Rostock on May 10,” Meinke said. “And even more about the fact that Daniela Bermudez has agreed to the 12×3 mode again and that we are sticking to the full distance together.” This shows that “La Bonita” – Bermudez’s fighting name – is also committed to equality in sport. “I am very grateful to her for that. I am convinced that we will give the fans a great fight,” said Meinke.

Zachenhuber and Langberg also at the start

The Meinke vs. Bermudez title rematch is part of the boxing event “Rostock boxt – die Rückkehr” on May 10 in the Stadthalle Rostock. Fans will also be able to see super middleweight Simon Zachenhuber, local hero Felix Langberg and other fighters from the P2M stable in the ring.
