Title opportunity in Nigeria: Emanuel Odiase steps into the ring against local hero Idris Affini for the WBA Africa belt.

German heavyweight hopeful Emanuel Odiase is set for the biggest fight of his career to date: today, Wednesday, he will face experienced local hero Idris Affini (18-9-2, 15 knockouts) in Lagos (Nigeria). Originally no title fight was planned, but now Odiase will fight for the WBA Africa title in Nigeria – a significant step for the 26-year-old, who will step into the ring in his father’s home country. With a win, Odiase could fight his way into the top 15 of the WBA world rankings for the first time and secure the right to fight for the European title in 2026.
His manager Florian Winter explains: “Emanuel has absolutely earned this opportunity with his convincing performances in recent fights. With a success in Nigeria, he can once again prove that this level is exactly where he belongs. This fight is a crucial step in his development and fits perfectly into the long-term plan for his career.”
“Take the next step!”
Emanuel Odiase himself is also full of focus and gratitude for the task ahead: “I am very happy about this opportunity, it is the result of hard work. I am fully focused and ready to take the next step on my way to the top. It makes me particularly proud to fight for the African title – especially here in Nigeria, where my father’s roots lie.”
Boxing fans can look forward to a thrilling heavyweight duel in which Emanuel Odiase aims to establish himself as a permanent fixture in international boxing.
