The former WBA and WBO minimumweight champion makes an impressive debut at flyweight, stops Neider Valdez early, and wins the WBO International title.

Oscar Collazo, the unified WBA and WBO world champion at minimumweight, made the move up to flyweight in impressive fashion. The Puerto Rican stopped Neider Valdez last night at the Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, California, at an event organized by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions.
Collazo (15-0, 12 KOs) dominated the bout from the start and sent Valdez (15-4-3, 12 KOs) to the canvas a total of three times before securing a TKO victory 2 minutes and 35 seconds into the second round. With this victory, the undefeated champion also secured the WBO International flyweight title.
Valdez’s team was finally forced to throw in the towel after the Mexican went down for the third time following a left hook.
Following his commanding victory in his flyweight debut, Collazo is now setting his sights on the next big step in his career. The Puerto Rican aims to become a world champion in a second weight class.
René Santiago could be his next opponent. Santiago currently holds the WBA and WBO flyweight world titles.
In the undercard, Yair Gallardo (12-0, 9 KOs) defeated Bunt Singh Bisla (14-2, 7 KOs) by unanimous decision in the light heavyweight division.
