Final sparring sessions underway – Lazaro Alvarez, Erislandy Alvarez and Hamsat Shadalov fight on June 13 at the “Casino Buenos Aires”.

Less than two weeks to go until top AGON boxers Lazaro Alvarez, Erislandy Alvarez and Hamsat Shadalov step into the ring in Buenos Aires. As part of the WBA’s renowned “KO Drugs” event series, the three talents will be boxing for WBA titles on June 13 at the “Casino Buenos Aires” in Argentina’s capital.
Next big step
The final sparring sessions are currently in full swing. Hamsat Shadalov is fine-tuning his final form at the AGON training center in Berlin. The former Olympian from Berlin is regarded as one of the most exciting young German boxers in the super featherweight division. Shadalov is preparing for his first international title fight with great determination. For the “Chechen Borz” it is the next big step on the road to international honors. In just a few days, he will be traveling to South America.
The Cuban talents Lazaro Alvarez, three-time Olympic medal winner, and his compatriot Erislandy Alvarez, Olympic champion in Paris 2024, have a shorter journey. The two latest signings of the Berlin boxing promotion recently presented themselves in outstanding form at the historic “Cuban Boxing Night” in Varadero. Now they want to shine again on the international stage.

Both are currently fine-tuning their skills in Havana before heading to Buenos Aires. There, Lazaro Alvarez will defend the WBA Continental lightweight title he won in April against Jose Munoz. Erislandy Alvarez wants to defend his WBA Continental semi-welterweight belt against Eduardo Costa Do Nascimento.
Boxing with social commitment
The event at Casino Buenos Aires is promoted by Sampson Lewkowicz (Sampson Boxing), Carlos Andres Tello (Tello Box) and Ingo Volckmann (AGON Sports). The “KO Drugs” series, supported by the WBA, not only sets sporting accents, but also pursues a social goal. In particular, it aims to get young people off the streets and get them interested in boxing.
AGON boss Ingo Volckmann: “Our boxers are well prepared. You can feel the excitement among the boys – they are all eager for Argentina. It’s another important milestone for us to position our athletes even more strongly internationally.”
The event will be broadcast by TyC Sports.
