Brit Hamzah Sheeraz sees Canelo Alvarez as the clear favorite against Terence Crawford – and wants to box against the Mexican superstar himself in the future.

Hamzah Sheeraz (22-0-1, 18 knockouts) has established himself as a serious contender in the super middleweight division following his impressive knockout win over Edgar Berlanga in July – and he has a clear target: Canelo Álvarez. In conversation with the 5Live Boxing Podcast the unbeaten Brit was convinced that the Mexican superstar will win “easily” against Terence Crawford on September 13 – and that the way is clear for a mega-fight with himself afterwards. “The Canelo duel is in the air. If he beats Crawford easily – and I think he will – that would be the logical next step,” says Sheeraz.
The 26-year-old from Slough moved up to super middleweight (168 lbs) for the first time against Berlanga and impressively dominated the previously unbeaten US puncher. A duel with Canelo would be the biggest opportunity of his career to date, both in sporting and financial terms. “It would be the opportunity to box against one of the greatest – I wouldn’t hesitate for a second.” Even though there are many exciting opponents in the division with names such as Mbilli, Pacheco and Iglesias, Sheeraz has clearly set his sights on the top. And Canelo – he believes – will continue to maintain this after the Crawford fight.
