Boxing fans can look forward to a real spectacle: On November 14, Gervonta “Tank” Davis will step into the ring for a show fight against YouTube star and cruiserweight Jake Paul. The venue is the State Farm Arena in Atlanta and the event will be broadcast live on Netflix. Davis (30-0-1, 28 knockouts) was originally scheduled for a rematch for the WBA lightweight title against Lamont Roach. However, after his arrest for alleged domestic violence in July – the charges have since been dropped – the fight was canceled.

Jake Paul (12-1, 7 knockouts) was last in talks for a mega-fight against former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, but negotiations broke down. Instead, he will now face Davis – despite the massive weight difference. While Davis fights at lightweight (up to 135 pounds), Paul will compete as a cruiserweight (up to 200 pounds).

Conditions are therefore expected to be similar to Floyd Mayweather’s exhibition against Paul’s brother Logan in 2021: weight limits, larger gloves and special show fight rules. This is not Jake Paul’s first fight on the big Netflix stage. In November 2024, he boxed against Mike Tyson in an official eight-round duel that attracted millions of viewers. He then defeated former world champion Julio César Chávez Jr. in June. Gervonta Davis is one of the sport’s biggest stars. His victory over Ryan Garcia in 2023 surpassed the one million PPVs sold mark. It remains to be seen whether there will be a sporting return to lightweight after the show fight.
