WBO European champion Vincenzo Gualtieri will not be able to defend his title in Berlin on September 12 due to an injury. “The fight card will still be a blast!” promises AGON boss Ingo Volckmann.
Bad news for all boxing fans: former world champion Vincenzo Gualtieri will not be able to take part in his planned title fight on September 12 at the Uber Eats Music Hall in Berlin. The 32-year-old suffered a foot injury in training, which makes it impossible for him to fight. The defense of his WBO Europe middleweight title against Swiss Ramadan Hiseni will have to be postponed.
Gualtieri is disappointed
“I’m incredibly disappointed,” says Gualtieri. “I was really looking forward to Berlin, the crowd and the fight against Ramadan Hiseni. But the injury simply won’t allow me to fight at this level. I would like to apologize to my fans, the AGON Sports team and everyone involved.”
Despite the injury-related absence, the boxing evening on September 12 remains an absolute highlight for all sports fans and the perfect introduction for anyone who wants to experience boxing live. The focus is now even more on the two Berlin crowd favorites Hamsat Shadalov and Paul Wall.
Shadalov debuts as “headliner”
Hamsat Shadalov (11-0, 3 knockouts) makes his debut as a main event fighter and fights for a WBA super featherweight title against the also unbeaten Spaniard Alex de la Rosa (10-0, 4 knockouts). His childhood friend Paul Wall is contesting his first professional title fight. The German duel against Antonio Fechner from Hamburg is for the German Championship of the BDB (Bund Deutscher Berufsboxer).
The two local heroes want to provide goosebump moments, supported by their fans and an electrifying Berlin backdrop. In addition, spectators can look forward to further strong fights and additional title fights, which will be announced shortly. AGON Sports promoter Ingo Volckmann promises: “The fight card will still be a blast, despite Vincenzo’s injury! We are still working on the final details in the background.”
