Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao is flirting with a comeback. This is not the first time – but now the plan for an imminent return to the ring seems to be taking shape.
Manny Pacquiao ended his glorious career four years ago. Now the Filipino boxing star, who won world titles in eight different weight classes, apparently wants to make a comeback. The 46-year-old is scheduled to return to the ring on July 19 against US-American Mario Barrios, according to the US sports portal ESPN.
Welterweight world championship fight
This duel, which is to take place in Las Vegas, will be fought for the WBC welterweight title. Hall-of-Famer Pacquiao retired from politics after his boxing career, but failed in his bid for the office of President of the Philippines. The “Pac-Man” fought his last fight on August 21, 2021, when he lost unanimously on points to Yordenis Ugas.
ESPN refers to unnamed sources in its article. However, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman is also said to have spoken of Pacquiao’s comeback plans at a fight in Saudi Arabia last week.
