The new applications approved by World Boxing’s Executive Council are from the national boxing federations of France, Croatia, Poland, Iran, Malaysia, Nepal, Turkmenistan and Samoa, which is represented by Independent Boxing Samoa, all eight of which have undergone a rigorous application process to join World Boxing.

They are recognized associations that can demonstrate the following through their statutes and work processes:

  • Transparent and open election procedure for filling positions
  • the existence and application of WADA-approved anti-doping policies and procedures
  • evidence of a structured dispute resolution and appeals process that is either fully independent or externally supported
  • formal recognition by the National Olympic Committee (NOC) or the Ministry of Sport
  • a solid national and international boxing program

WB President Boris van der Vorst said: “The addition of eight more national federations to our ever-growing membership is another significant step for World Boxing and further evidence of the broad support we are receiving across the sport for our work to ensure boxing remains at the heart of the Olympic Movement. It is clear that boxing will only be on the LA2028 program if national federations support WB, and I invite all boxing officials who care about the future of the sport and their boxers to apply for membership of our organization as we continue to grow and go from strength to strength.”
