Zachenhuber calls on Scull: “Revive German boxing!”

Simon Zachenhuber has officially issued his challenge to William Scull. The P2M boxer from Erding wants his first world championship fight at super middleweight and believes the time has come for a major German title opportunity.

Simon Zachenhuber, who was already aiming for a fight against AGON middleweight Vincenzo Gualtieri, has now made his ambitions public. Under an Instagram video of IBF world champion William Scull, he directly demanded: “Come on William Scull give me the chance for a world championship fight in Germany! Now our promoters AGON Sports and P2M can do what they set out to do years ago: ‘revitalize German boxing.” In his Instagram story, he confirmed: “I hereby officially challenge William Scull!”

An “all-German” world championship duel between the P2M boxer and the Cuban-born fighter from the AGON stable would be perfectly feasible – provided a TV station secures the funding. However, Scull’s focus is currently on Canelo Alvarez, who is considered the dominant champion in the weight class. “Canelo Alvarez is the man to beat in the division, as he holds the remaining world titles. It is William’s big dream to box against Canelo in Las Vegas and our ultimate goal is to box against the best in the world,” explained AGON promoter Ingo Volckmann. It remains to be seen whether Zachenhuber will get his world championship opportunity or whether Scull will wait for his big payday against Alvarez. One thing is clear: Zachenhuber wants to prove that he belongs among the world’s best.
