It was not yet what he had dreamed of: the final breakthrough on the big stage. “But it was still good practice,” says Simon Zachenhuber. And anyway, he’s always in training. And ready to get into the ring, to score points, to win. On call, at any time. Nobody can fool him. That’s why the WBA and IBF European super middleweight champion jumped on the fight card for “Boxnacht Stuttgart 2” on February 22nd. At a late hour in the “Scharrena” in the Bad Cannstatt district, right next to the Neckar Stadium. An event organized by Zachenhuber’s training partner and main fighter of the evening, the light heavyweight Altin Zogaj.

A triad for success

The virtuoso right-handed fighter Zachenhuber had Robert Talarek (29-27-3) from Poland in front of his clenched fists. Not a top-class fighter, but one who, at the age of 41, has proven himself several times – despite defeats – and has gone the distance in some cases. In the end, Talarek was nothing more than an intermediate stage; “it wasn’t supposed to be”, coach Conny Mittermeier emphasized to BOXSPORT.

The following is important to Mittermeier: Zachenhuber’s victories are no coincidence. They follow a kind of triad: apply pressure, set the tone, box safely. And if an opportunity presents itself, “then don’t wait any longer, but choose the end of the fight”. Prematurely. In short, self-confident, confident action on the ropes. Zachenhuber can do that. And not only there.

“Come on, William!”

Because the 26-year-old is also someone who dares to come out of his shell outside the ring; someone who is not at a loss for words. The “Matador” recently confirmed his ambitions. To IBF title holder William Scull. “Come on, William, give me a chance for a world championship fight in Germany!” …
