Conor Benn (23-1, 14 KOs) has given the green light for a rematch against Chris Eubank Jr. The first duel between the British rivals in April in front of 67,000 spectators in London ended after twelve hard-fought rounds with a unanimous points victory for Eubank – now the rematch is to take place in November.

A second clash was originally planned for September 20, but Eubank expressed concerns about the date. According to Benn promoter Eddie Hearn, the rematch could now take place as part of the Riyadh Season in Saudi Arabia. “We would have preferred September, but if November comes, we’ll make it happen,” explained the Matchroom boss.

At the same time, Matchroom Boxing is in talks with the camp of WBC world champion Mario Barrios. This could give Benn the chance to win his first major world championship belt. Barrios recently boxed to a controversial draw against Manny Pacquiao, but a direct rematch has not been confirmed. For Benn, this means two potentially high-profile options: a rematch against Eubank – or a world title fight against Barrios. Both fights would be decisive for his ambitions in the welterweight division.
