Canelo vs. Crawford breaks records: 41 million viewers worldwide make the fight the most-watched men’s title fight of the century!

The mega-fight between Saul “Canelo” Álvarez and Terence Crawford not only made history in sporting terms – the viewing figures are also record-breaking: as Netflix has now announced, 41 million people worldwide watched the fight live on the streaming platform.
The historic encounter, in which Crawford dethroned Canelo to become the undisputed super middleweight champion, was available for free to Netflix subscribers – a crucial factor for the huge audience. The fight also took place on the weekend around Mexican Independence Day, traditionally one of the biggest dates in the boxing calendar.
Netflix officially declared the fight the “most-watched men’s world championship boxing match of this century” – a remarkable milestone for the streaming era in boxing. By comparison, the show fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul in November 2024, also on Netflix, attracted 108 million viewers – albeit without a world championship character. The fight Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano II, which was ranked below it, also impressed with an average of 74 million live viewers.
The figures show: Boxing is alive and well – and streaming has long since become the new home for millions of fight fans worldwide.
