Big names in boxing paid their respects yesterday at Boxring Eintracht: double Olympic champion Arlen Lopez, three-time amateur world champion and three-time Olympic bronze medalist Lazaro Alvarez and AGON newcomer Yosnier Sorsano introduced themselves to the Berlin audience for the first time before their fights at the Uber Eats Music Hall on Friday as part of the Media Day.

The encounter with the young talents of the traditional Eintracht boxing ring was particularly impressive. The young boxers watched the training session with shining eyes and sought a direct exchange with the Cuban stars. It was an unforgettable moment for many, as athletes like Lopez and Alvarez are not only world-class athletes, but also role models who show the youngsters what is possible with discipline, talent and hard work.

This visit is a special event for Berlin. The fact that a double Olympic champion and a three-time world champion will be competing in the capital underlines the city’s international appeal as a boxing metropolis. At the same time, it makes it clear how valuable the work of young talent in clubs such as Boxring Eintracht is: this is where the foundation is laid on which great careers can later be built.

Superstars in the ring

On Friday, the Cuban heroes will step into the ring at the Uber Eats Music Hall. But they have already left their mark, especially on Berlin’s young boxers, who were able to experience their idols up close. For spectators, the boxing evening promises to be an experience not to be missed: Two world-class athletes on their way to crowning their brilliant amateur careers with major professional titles.

The main fight of the evening will feature Berlin-based Hamsat Shadalov, who will fight the also unbeaten Alex de la Rosa for an international WBA title. Shadalov’s training partner and childhood friend Paul Wall will also be taking part. In his first professional title fight, he will step into the ring with Antonio Fechner from Hamburg. Both will be competing for the German Championship of the Bund Deutscher Berufsboxer (BDB).
