Eubank Jr. vs. Benn – Family feud round four

Seven months after their first fight, British rivals Chris Eubank jr. and Conor Benn meet again. BOXSPORT checks whether a first Benn victory is possible in the fourth family duel – their fathers have already fought each other twice.

Depending on how you look at it, the November 15 fight has been in the making for different lengths of time. Seven months since the first fight in April; three years since the first fight was scheduled, which had to be postponed after Connor Benn failed a doping test; 32 years since the feud between their famous fathers Chris Eubank sr. and Nigel Benn ended in a draw in the rematch. The names Eubank and Benn are likely to have played their part in ensuring that the first encounter in April was sold out to the rafters.

Back then, Eubank won with a deserved unanimous points victory, but above all the duel delivered thrilling boxing action. The first few rounds in particular were close, with both boxers fighting out their feud in fierce firefights. It is always a question of how much of it is showmanship, but Eubank Jr. seems to mean business. The doping offense of his rival in particular is a great shame in his eyes. “What Conor Benn has done is unforgivable and if he is to be forgiven then he needs to come clean – which he hasn’t done so far,” he told TalkSport.
