Cuba opens the next chapter: Olympians and national champions make their professional debut at the AGON event “Cuban Boxing Night” on November 29 in Varadero.

The second “Cuban Boxing Night” in Varadero will not only be characterized by title fights, but also by a very special moment for Cuban boxing. Four very talented young athletes will make their professional debut on November 29, 2025. This is a further step in the opening up of Cuban boxing and a sign of the dawn of a new generation.
With Alejandro Claro Fiz, Saidel Horta, Nelson Williams and Keylor García, four outstanding talents will step into the professional ring for the first time. The 24-year-old Alejandro Claro Fiz will start at flyweight. He is a two-time bronze medallist at world championships (IBA), two-time Cuban champion and an Olympic participant at Paris 2024. Just a few days ago, he was voted best boxer at an international tournament in the Seychelles, where he also won gold.
Cuba champ and Olympic starter
Saidel Horta makes his debut at featherweight. The 23-year-old won the silver medal at the 2023 IBA World Championships, became Cuban champion twice and also represented his country at the 2024 Olympic Games. His elegant, precise boxing style has already made him one of Cuba’s most popular boxers at amateur level.
As a three-time Cuban champion, 22-year-old Nelson Williams brings enormous power to the cruiserweight division. The physically strong boxer with an explosive style now wants to prove his dominance in the professional ranks too. Another 22-year-old, Keylor García, national light heavyweight champion, rounds off the quartet.
“The next chapter begins now”
This step was made possible by Flavio Oleaga Mirabal, matchmaker at AGON Sports & Events, who played a key role in enabling the four talented youngsters to begin their professional careers on Cuba’s biggest boxing stage. “These guys represent the future of Cuban boxing,” says Oleaga Mirabal. “They have shown their class at the highest amateur level and now the next chapter begins. Their professional debut in Varadero is not only an important step for their careers, but also for Cuban boxing as a whole.”
With the four debutants and the already established stars such as Erislandy Álvarez, Lázaro Álvarez and Moussa Gholam, the “Cuban Boxing Night” sets a further signal for the international rebirth of professional boxing on Cuban soil.
