The German Boxing Championships in Halle/Saale started with two big surprises: Irina Schönberger and Ramona Graeff had to pull out early.

The 101st German Elite Championships in Halle/Saale started with unexpected twists and turns. In the women’s middleweight division, multiple champion Irina Schönberger (Bavaria) was surprisingly defeated 2:3 by Ilyvi Scheibe from North Rhine-Westphalia. The DM also ended prematurely for Ramona Graeff from Hesse, a former title holder: she lost her opening match against Ayssa Lopez Martinez (Bavaria) 1:4. 20-year-old lightweight Lütfiye Tutal (NRW), on the other hand, made a strong impression. The third-placed at the European Championships dominated her opponent Jasmin Toppel (Berlin) and advanced to the next round with ease.
Bavarian Olympic boxer Magomed Shakhidov confirmed his role as favorite in the men’s semi-middle. With a technical knockout after 2:45 minutes of the second round, he secured victory over Bashar Shech Keder (Lower Saxony). Daniel Meyer (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) also impressed in the 71-kilo class, defeating Michael Siemens (NRW) by 4:1 points to secure his place in the quarter-finals.
