Former German boxer Kevin Boakye-Schumann has been banned for 18 months for an anti-doping rule violation following a decision by the International Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Kevin Boakye-Schumann was a member of the German Boxing Association (DBV) national squad for several years and also boxed in the Bundesliga for multiple team champion BC Traktor Schwerin. The 26-year-old has now been banned for 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), reports sport.de. Boakye-Schumann is said to have repeatedly violated the National Anti-Doping Agency’s testing and reporting obligations from 2021 to 2022.
No appeal lodged
However, the DBV saw “no legal, contractual or implied legal obligation for the athlete to submit quarterly reports”, it said. NADA therefore lodged an appeal with CAS, which has now suspended the Hamburg-born athlete. Neither party has appealed to the Swiss Federal Supreme Court and the CAS ruling is therefore final.
Boakye-Schumann reached the quarter-finals of the 2021 World Championships in Belgrade and his last fight as a DBV boxer was in March 2024, when he was defeated by Aliaksei Alfiorau from Belarus in the Olympic qualifiers. Boakye-Schumann fought two professional fights in October and November last year and won both early.
