Professional boxer Mohamed Abou-Chaker from Berlin, unbeaten in seven fights (5 knockouts), now has to fight a Mexican. It could hardly have been tougher. Shortly before his biggest fight for the vacant junior world championship of the GBC (Global Boxing Council), the bombshell bursts: a change of opponent.

Real test for Abou-Chaker

The 23-year-old middleweight with the famous surname was actually due to fight Slovakia’s Lukas Ferneza on November 22. But Ferneza was injured. Now Abou-Chaker has a new opponent: the Mexican Zaid Hernández Cortes (5-3-0). Experienced, tough and known for his “dirty” fighting style.

Manager Dorothea Ring sums it up: “Mohamed has been preparing for Ferneza the whole time. And now a Mexican – they are hard to box and known for their tough fighting style. That makes everything more complicated.” An opponent who mixes everything up. A real test for Abou-Chaker.

Eleven fights at “Velten Fight Night”

A total of eleven fights with over 60 rounds of excitement, tough duels and new talent await boxing fans on November 22 at the Stadthalle Velten. It will be an evening of fights that has it all. Included in the program: Maurice Milcke, Berliner, son of GBA President Jörg Milcke and reigning junior world champion at half-middleweight. Milcke is seen as another sporting highlight. “It’s rare to see so many exciting fights in one evening,” say the organizers.

Despite chaos and Mexico power. Even though his game plan was thrown out the window, Mohamed Abou-Chaker remains determined: “I want the title and I’m going to get it. No matter who is in the ring at the end.”
