On September 27, 1980, Marvin Hagler and Briton Alan Minter fought a duel in London. It was the US American’s next chance to win the WBC middleweight title. “Marvelous” dominates the fight from the start. Minter suffers a cut and the fight is stopped – Hagler wins by technical knockout in round three. But the celebrations are disrupted by chaotic scenes: angry spectators throw projectiles at the new champion, forcing the US boxer to be evacuated from the ring under a police escort.
