On this day – In memory of Fritz Sdunek

Today we remember one of the greatest German boxing coaches of all time: Fritz Sdunek would have turned 78 this Friday.

As a passionate tactician, fatherly mentor and quiet strategist on the ring, Fritz Sdunek made boxing history – not with big words, but with real work. He shaped champions, but more than that: he shaped personalities. His most famous protégés included Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, Dariusz Michalczewski and Felix Sturm. With his calm but determined manner, he got the best out of his fighters – and was appreciated all over the world for it.

Fritz Sdunek was not only a trainer, but for many a man of life. Whether in the corner of a world champion or in the boxing gym with up-and-coming talent, his advice carried weight and his eye for detail was legendary. He passed away far too early in 2014 – but his legacy lives on in countless successes, memories and encounters.

Thank you, Fritz – for everything. You will never be forgotten!
