Patrick Korte: Huge chance against Joe Joyce

On March 1, Patrick Korte gets a big chance on the international stage. The heavyweight from Essen will face British veteran Joe Joyce at the Bournemouth International Center.

For Patrick Korte, who has already faced top-class opponents such as Demsey McKean and Hughie Fury in the past, this is another opportunity to prove himself on the big stage. Joyce, once regarded as one of the most dangerous heavyweights in the world, is under pressure after a string of defeats. The 39-year-old lost twice to Zhilei Zhang and was also recently defeated by Dereck Chisora. Despite his waning dominance, Joyce remains a difficult opponent to beat, whose experience and punching power are still very dangerous. The fight will therefore be anything but easy for Korte.

The 40-year-old from Essen, who has only suffered four defeats in his 22 career victories, enters the ring as the underdog. However, Korte has shown in the past that he has a fighter’s heart. In October 2023, he secured a points victory against Czech veteran Pavel Sour despite injuries. His will to prevail and his ability to shrug off setbacks could make the fight a real highlight. Korte has little to lose, but everything to gain. A win over Joyce could set the course for bigger fights.
