AGON Sports can look back on an extremely successful weekend in Argentina. Both Paul Wall and Moussa Gholam celebrated impressive victories in Buenos Aires, making a clear statement on the international stage.

Berlin half-middleweight Paul Wall kicked things off in the night from Friday to Saturday. The unbeaten southpaw secured his first international title against the experienced Colombian Placido Ramirez (28 wins, now 7 defeats). Wall dominated the fight technically and tactically for long stretches, controlled the distance and pace and repeatedly landed precise strikes.

Perfect blow to the liver

The decision came in the seventh round. Wall knocked out his opponent with a perfectly placed punch to the liver and crowned his strong performance with an early victory and the “WBA Continental America Gold” title.

“It feels great to have won your first international title against such a strong opponent. The week was turbulent, but everything worked out in the end and the title is coming home to Berlin. Now we’re aiming for the top and bigger tasks will come step by step,” explained Wall after the fight.

At the top of the WBA rankings

Just one day later, stablemate Moussa Gholam followed suit. The Moroccan, who lives in Barcelona, won his most important fight to date on Saturday night. The super featherweight put in a dominant performance against Mexican Alan Zaid Rodriguez Montiel and ended the duel in the third round.

Gholam first landed several heavy hooks to his opponent’s head before a perfectly timed liver hook brought about the decisive knockout. With this victory, he won the fight, which was scheduled as a WBA eliminator, and catapulted himself to the top of the WBA rankings. The next step towards the world championship is now within his grasp.

“Ready for big fights”

“Thanks to AGON Sports for this opportunity! I joined Ingo Volckmann’s boxing stable just a year ago and look where we are today!” said Gholam after his triumph.

His coach, former professional Isaac Real, was also delighted: “Moussa is ready for big fights and wants to prove his potential. He has improved a lot in recent preparations, which will benefit him in the future.”

With two convincing victories in one weekend, AGON Sports once again underlines its international focus and puts two more athletes in promising positions in the global title race.
