Anthony Joshua: “I’m coming back with a bang!”

Anthony Joshua is back! After a one-year break, AJ wants to strike again in 2025 – and shake up the heavyweight division “with a bang”.

Anthony Joshua is back – and with a clear announcement! After a break of almost a year, the former two-time world champion has announced that he will return to the ring in 2025. His goal: to shake up the heavyweight scene again. The 35-year-old has not fought since his bitter knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024. The originally planned fight against Tyson Fury fell through after the latter announced his retirement.

However, Joshua used the forced break productively: an elbow operation was successfully carried out and the Briton now feels physically fit again. “For the first time in my career, I took a year off to get my body in order,” explained Joshua in London. “When I come back, I want to come back with full force. I don’t just want to run with it – I want to shake up the heavyweight division!”

Although no specific opponent or date has yet been set, Deontay Wilder has publicly expressed an interest in stepping into the ring against Joshua. AJ himself is open to anything: “Every fight is a big fight. I’ll take what comes.” Fans can therefore look forward to a spectacular comeback – by the end of 2025 at the latest.
