Light heavyweight Ben Whittaker has yet to win a major fight, but still attracts a lot of attention with his extroverted boxing style. Some celebrate him, others hate him. BOXSPORT introduces the British hopeful.

When Ben Whittaker makes his debut for his new stable Matchroom on November 29, he is the clear favorite. His opponent from Germany, Benjamin Gavazi (19-2, 13 knockouts), may not be a journeyman, but Whittaker fights in a different class and stops him in the first round. The Brit boxed effectively and concentrated, showing little of his showboat attitudes that make him one of the most dazzling figures in boxing today.
Always a showman
His style is inherent in his personality. Ben was born in 1997 to an English-Austrian mother and a Jamaican father and is a hyperactive child. His father suggests boxing as a sport to channel the boy’s energy in a meaningful way. Little Ben puts on the gloves early and finds his style – by his own admission, he has been boxing since the age of seven in a way that brings him almost more media attention than his sporting achievements.
