Exciting main event in Aschersleben ends without a winner – fans demand an immediate rematch between Julian Vogel and Sami Ahmeti.

Aschersleben – Local hero Julian Vogel had to settle for a draw in the main bout of the SES Boxing Gala at the Ballhaus Arena in Saxony-Anhalt on Saturday evening. In the duel for the WBO junior super welterweight title, the unbeaten fighter from Aschersleben met the equally unbeaten Sami Ahmeti – in the end, the judges saw no winner.
In a hard-fought and high-class fight, which was broadcast live by MDR, both opponents gave each other nothing. After twelve rounds, the judges scored the bout 95:95 twice, while one judge gave Vogel a close 96:94. Both boxers thus remained undefeated: Vogel now at 17-0-2 (9 knockouts), Ahmeti at 9-0-1 (5 knockouts).
“The result is fair. He was strong, I was strong. I lost the thread a bit in the last two rounds,” explained Vogel in an interview after the fight. Ahmeti immediately announced a possible rematch: “I hope to box Vogel here in Aschersleben again soon and then win the title.”
In the co-main event, Bosnian cruiserweight Armend Xhoxhaj (22-4, 11 knockouts) prevailed against compatriot Semir Dautovic (8-4, 6 knockouts). Dautovic injured his shoulder and had to retire in round two.
Hamburg lightweight Nenad Stancic (17-0, 8 knockouts) also impressed on the undercard, clearly defeating the powerful Venezuelan Yohan Morocoima (19-2, 18 knockouts) on points. “It was a strong opponent, just the kind we needed to take the next step in our careers,” said Stancic after his success.
