Due to a hand injury suffered by WBC champion Sebastian Fundora, his title defense against Keith Thurman will now be postponed until early 2026.

WBC champion Sebastian Fundora (23-1-1, 15 knockouts) has suffered a hand injury in training camp. As a result, the half-middleweight’s world title fight against Keith Thurman (31-1, 23 knockouts) has been postponed, reports “The Ring”. The Fundora vs. Thurman duel was scheduled to take place on October 25 in Las Vegas as the headliner of a PBC PPV event on Prime Video. Now the fight will be postponed along with the rest of the program, which also includes the super featherweight title fight between O’Shaquie Foster and Stephen Fulton.
In the supporting program of Pacquiao
Fundora’s title defense against Thurman is expected to take place in late January on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao, according to reports. The second fight of Pacquiao’s comeback is set for Jan. 24 in Las Vegas, the Hall-of-Famer announced last week. Other sources say that the “Pac-Man” fight may be postponed to January 31.
Fundora’s injury is said to have occurred when he landed a punch that hit his sparring partner’s elbow. “The Towering Inferno” received the good news that his hand is not broken, but that he will not be able to train for three weeks due to a bruise.
Thurman defeated only once
Fundora last won a rematch against Tim Tszyu in July with a technical knockout in the seventh round. In March 2024, the 27-year-old won his first duel against Tszyu by split decision, surprisingly claiming the vacant WBC title. At 1.96 meters, “The Towering Inferno” is exceptionally tall for a half-middleweight.
Thurman advanced to the semi-main event in March with a third-round knockout win over Brock Jarvis in Australia. The fight was Thurman’s first in more than three years and should set up a title fight against Tszyu later this year in Australia. “One Time” suffered his only defeat as a professional in 2019 against superstar Manny Pacquiao.
